This book is very descriptive and tells you what cats look like when they're happy, mad and scared etc. This book is a good book to have accessible in the classroom for young children who may be interested in knowing more about cats. This book was a know all about cats. It talks about the history and how cats were domesticated back to the early Egyptians. It also mentions how cats are in the wild and at home. It also gives good guidelines to understanding a your house cat.

This book is designed to give information on cats with emphasis on information readers should know before getting a pet cat.

Because of the language and style in which the information is presented, this book seems to be intended for elementary school students. The information is accurate, explained in simple wording and provided in large text, which again, seems to fit the intended reader. The book also provides large colored photos of cats that show what is being described in the text. ( )

Cats by Seymour Simon is a fairly easy read, there is no plot or story line, its just cats. This would be a good book for a young reader. It may interest younger kids, but the read is probably for 3rd graders. The pictures are great, and cute and make you feel good inside. I would use this book to introduce lessons on cats. It is a purely informative book so it would not be a good book to use for a read aloud. There are however some great activities on the website I included that correspond to this book, or cats in general. ( )

Most children love cats and this book can be read in a classroom during show and tell if a child brings in their cat.
