I really enjoyed this book because this is a book about the author who goes back to her country to learn more about her culture and to learn more about her self. My favorite part of the book is when she goes back to the South to learn about what place she is from. Also, she makes good connections of the facts she learned from the South to the book. Her visuals and main points of the story is depicted well for the readers. Most importantly, it shows that she likes her culture and wants to become part of her culture. I think I will use this book in my class when we are learning about this place, or for a culture day. Also, it can be used in a history class when students are learning about the word heritage. 2 the flashbulb made a square-shaped burn on my forehead. 3 around 1770 words 4 1 hour 1. 2. Line or Phrase: "She's the person I have yet to become. I can picture the person I want to be - a seeker of knowledge, a creator of visions, and a keeper of my family's history." 3. Number of words: approximately 2500 4. Reading time: 15 min. This story covers the author’s journey of self discovery. She goes back to the South to learn about her history and heritage and in so doing discovers who she is and who she eventually wants to become. The way the author related her heritage and the facts of history that she found during her research are very well represented in the illustrations throughout the book. The design and layout of the pictures draw your interest because they made you focus on the quilts and you shared in her discovery same as she did. I like the way she used the quilt to point out what she learned about her history. This is a great book to use in history to discuss our own heritage. This story can also be used in an Art or Home Economics Class to make collages or quilts. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
