a priceless artifact could restore a family's honor -- or destroy everything in its wake. While vacationing in Tokyo, archaeologist Annja Creed is approached by a man who desperately needs her help. Kennichi Ogawa, the last descendant of an ancient warrior family, is trying to locate a stolen artifact. Legend has it that the vajra was mystically endowed by a warrior's spirit to help the Yumegakure-ryu family forever be a source for good. But the vajra could help the forces of evil if it gets into the wrong hands. And now the bloodthirsty Yakuza and a group of hired ninja are after it. As Annja and Kennichi trek through the fog-enshrouded mountains of the Iga province to find the relic, they must also outsmart the vicious Yakuza and ninja who are dangerously close to uncovering the vajra first...and to destroying their competition.… (altro)

Series: Rogue Angel Author: Alex Archer Rating: 2.5 of 5 Stars Genre: Urban Fantasy Pages: 292 Synopsis: Annja is recruited to find an old family relic with possible mystical powers, by the last in a clan of.....Ninjas! And they are opposed by the Yakuza, another Ninja'y kind of guy and some monks. My Thoughts: My eyes were rolling so much while reading this that I had to change my glasses. Ok, it wasn't quite that bad, but almost. The Sword goes on the fritz whenever Anna isn't in real danger, which I find ridiculous. It completely took away the idea of Free Will and negated the idea that she could go all Darkside by killing innocents, which has been previously explored. I don't expect much from my action books, but if you are going to try to be Philosophical, I expect something real, not some new age crap that has as much depth as a bikini. And Mr Ninja? I have nothing to say *grin* " ( )

Annja Creed is a part-time archeologist, part-time tv host of "Chasing History's Monsters", and full-time adventurer.

While taking a vacation in Japan, Annja is approached by a young man who needs her help. Ken is searching for a long lost artifact that belongs to his family, of which he is the last remaining heir. And Annja soon finds out that Ken is more than what he seems, as he comes from a lineage of ninjistu warriors. But Annja and Ken are not the only ones searching for the artifact. And the other treasure hunters are willing to kill to get their hands on it.

As a new author brings his talents to the Rogue Angel series, I was excited about seeing where he took Annja's character. In this installment, Annja is more laid-back and more than a little flirtatious with Ken. And the action and suspense was bumped up a notch with the addition of ninjas and other fighters that actually give Annja a run for her money. Annja doesn't defeat every opponent with ease, as in most of the other installments. And she doesn't have as easy access to her sword as usual. These added complications made the story that much more suspenseful and exciting.

The Rogue Angel series has been a favorite of mine since its inception. Warrior Spirit is an impressive addition, and definitely one of my top picks in the series. Action, mystery, romance, magic, and ninjas - you won't be able to put this one down. ( )
