Summary: Max is four years old and lives in New York with his mommy and daddy. Max has to spend his days at the babysitter since both parents work. He is very unhappy at his baby sitters because her house is cold and Max is afraid of her cat. Finally Max tells his parents why he is so unhappy and his parents don't want him to be sad, so they start looking for a new babysitter. They do find the perfect one for Max and now he enjoys going to his new babysitter each day.
Personal Reaction: This book relates to what others might be dealing with at their homes. Finding the right babysitter is a really big deal for a young child and for parents. Children need to let their parents know if there is a problem and parents need to listen and help find a solution. I also thought the pictures were very good throughout the story.
Classroom Extension: We could talk about who in class goes to a babysitter and what they do there.
We could also talk about what Max liked about his new babysitter and things that make our students happy. ( )
