So, the main character Peter dies and has multiple chances to figure out what he needs to change in his life in order to not die. I'm really divided on how I feel on this book. On the one hand, Peter grows quite a bit and learns a lot about himself and his parents, but on the other hand, his parents are psychologically abusive and very neglectful and yet they are never expected to atone or grow past their ways - everything is all on Peter. He has to justify his existence, he has to learn to work with his parents' a**hole personalities, he is the one that needs to convince his parents that he's a pretty ok son. The fact that his parents blamed Peter for his death at his own funeral (he was hit by a car) goes to show you what kind of douchebags we're dealing with here. ( )

The book rewind tells the story of an eleven year old boy named peter whom dies by getting hit by a car. He is then given a second chance to fix his life and make it better. I read this book ten years ago and have had the joy to re-read such an interesting and though provoking book. The books story has a way of grasping you in within the first chapter; the book has a very gripping first sentence and it states “at my funeral, everyone said it was such a shame I had to die that way.” Also within the first chapter a character of mystery with no explanation, a spirit of some kind, gets introduced which gives Peter his second chance at life. The mood of the book isn’t somber despite the concept behind the story being about death. The mood is that of hope and trying to be better and do better. The main theme behind this story which shines closer to the end is when Peter tries to change his fate for the last time. The theme is acceptance, and the notion of expressing oneself in a positive manner, and thinking of others. Also, the notion of finding where you belong in the world so you don’t have to sacrificing yourself. ( )

I read the book Rewind which is by William Sleator. I chose this book because i have always enjoyed mysterys and when I seen the covor of Rewind it reminded me of a mystery. I also seen that it was not that big of a book so it seemed to me that it would be an easy book to read and it would not take me a long time to read it. The book was an ok book. The characters were really relistic and always were detailed. The writing of the book was detailed. The story was too far-out.
The main idea of the book Rewind is that a teenage boy named Peter has been ran over by his teachers car and there is a voice that when he is dead that is giving him another chance. So when he gets another chance he fails on staying alive, so the voice gives him another try and he suceeds so Peter gets to stay alive.
The book did meet my expectations but it could of been better. What I am trying to say is that the book in some parts were boring and so it took me time to understand it. My rating on this book would be one thumbs up.
