It is really odd that the boy says "that's good. that's bad" during all the situations and becomes really repetitive. It was boring for me to read and was confusing to figure out why it would say something is good and bad when clearly it was one or the other. The sound effects used in the book is alright. I am not a fan of the illustrations but some students might like it. It does allow the reader to live in the journey of the boy so the reader does not know what will happen next. I recommend it as a read aloud for first and second graders, and instead of reading "that's good, that's bad part" I would let the students decide if it's good or bad. This is a very repetitive story that is about a little boy who goes from one animal to the next around the zoo. Although this story does not have a big idea, it is such a cute book to read aloud to younger students. The story repeats “that’s good” or “that’s bad” on almost every page. The story also includes a ton of fun sounds effects such as “glug glug.” This is silly fun story that kids would love to look at the pictures and listen to “the little boy lost his grip, whoops, and landed on the back of a giraffe, hooray!” The pictures are bright and colorful and go long great with the story. The book ends with the little boy getting returned to his parents by the stork. This is a great excercise in mental flexibility, a way to teach children (even grown-up ones) that everything is relative, especially perspective! Just as things are starting to look bleak there is always a gift if you are willing to do a little unwrapping. I love this book and have read it to my children, my students and have coined the phrase. Whenever I feel "That's Bad" trying to creep into my thoughts I tell myself "No, That's Good...."
