Famed author Patricia Polacco writes an autobiographical tale about her rotten redheaded older brother Ritchie. Richie can do everything better than Trisha. He runs faster, climbs higher, picks more blackberries, and spits the farthest. After endless challenges of one-upmanship, Trisha wishes to do something better than he can. Her wish comes true, but not in the way she imagines. In the end, Trisha gets to see a different side to her brother. Readers will connect to the realistic portrayal of the brother-sister rivalry in this comical story. This book depicts the life of Patricia Polacco one summer on at her grandmother's farm. This book is primarily crafted with drawings, rather than paintings. I would recommend this book to 1st through 5th graders. I think this age group would be appropriate because not only can students appreciate the aspect of sibling rivalry, but also the aspect of family adventures. Trisha can't stand her rotten redheaded older brother, he beats her at everything. Whether it is eating blackberries, burping, or eating raw rhubarb Richie always wins. One day, their Bubbie tells Trisha the magic of wishing upon a star. Trisha wishes for what she wants most, to beat her older brother at something, anything. Trisha's wish comes true but not in the way she expected. Another one of Polacco's autobiographies, she captures the life she lived on her Bubbie's Michigan farm. Tricia and her older brother never get along. He drives her crazy. When her grandmother tells her about wishing on shooting stars, she gets a perfect idea. She wants to do anything better than her brother. Growing up with two brothers I could definitely relate to this story. I think any child with siblings would enjoy this story. The illustrations add to the humor of the story. Big brothers are a pain, but you have to love them. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
