A könyv hasznos áttekintés erről a bonyolult témáról. Sokkal alaposabban ismerem a témát, mint korábban, ugyanakkor a valódi tudáshoz még egyszer el kellene olvasni. Ennek lehet oka a téma összetettsége, az én nem teljes odafigyelésem vagy a szerző nem teljesen jól felépített gondolatmenete, illetve ezek keveréke.

Egyszerre előny és hátrány, hogy a szerző egyben elismert kutatója is a területnek. Amint a saját szakterületéhez ér, szenvedélyesebben érvel és az ellentábort eléggé lekezeli.

Az egész könyvben egyetlen ábra van, az is a DNS másolásról már unalomig ismételt szétváló spirál. Amikor egyfolytában a sejtekben zajló dinamikus folyamatokról van szó, akkor bizony sokkal többre lenne szükség.

A könyv eredetije 1998-as, azóta elég sokminden történt az emberi gének kutatása területén. Az akkor még jövőre többször is utal a szerző, nagy reményekkel említi a Human Genom Projektet.

Az eddigiek alapján tehát valószínűleg egy újabb, magyarázó ábrákkal jobban fölszerelt könyvet kellene elolvasni. (
