In this new recording,Vartan Manoogian’s elegant artistry brings to life J.S. Bach’s unsurpassed masterwork for unaccompanied violin. The violin used for this recording was made by J. B. Guadagnini in Piacenza, Italy in 1747. According to records dated 1956 in the archives of violin maker William E. Hill of London, England, "the earliest connection which we had with this instrument was when it was in the possession of Lady Kingston at the beginning of this century, who was a well-known amateur player, the pupil of Emil Sauret. It subsequently passed into the possession of a well-known professional, Miss Blaha, who emanated from Germany and from whose heirs the instrument was purchased by us in 1929. It was then sold to Mr. Robert Bower, a well-known collector, and from him passed into the hadns of Mr. Harry Blech, formerly a well-known soloist and now the conductor of the Mozart Players (in London)." In 1956 it was sold to M. Paolo Peterlango of Milano, Italy, from whom the eminent Italian violinist Franco Gulli purchased it in 1960. Mr. Manoogian obtained the Guadagnini in the 1980s 2 CD Compact Disc set Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
