In this book, William Reiser is giving us nothing less than a whole new way to look at prayer. The conventional definition of prayer is a "conversation with God". Reiser invites us to look at prayer as a "conversation with God's people". The company of God's people is an indispensable condition for experiencing God in our time. Prayer so often is seen as a private, interior reality. To Hear God's Word, Listen to the World liberates us from this narrow view. To pray means to involve ourselves in our world, which is God's world. People who pray stand before God in solidarity with all other human beings, especially those who are victims of injustice and oppression. Do you ever experience a "dry" or empty time in prayer? Reiser offers a solution. Maybe the dryness or desolation that sincere people experience is no ordinary rhythm in the spiritual life, but a sign, an indication that God is calling us to a different experience of prayer. Perhaps this is no ordinary desert we are passing through. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
