What a lazy thing this book is. Of course, it was produced 20 years ago before it was simple enough to get on Amazon and take a subject, any subject, and find a ready-made list on Listmania, created by someone whose rationale for selection is something like, "this is a good one." The author does have Ph.D. after her name on the title page and again after her introduction, so that means something, I suppose. I always thought Harper was a grade A publisher. Can you imagine being assigned to edit something like this. A word of sympathy is surely due to Ms. Peternelle von Arsdale, "talented, funny and hard-working", according to the acknowledgments. Presumably she was paid, although it couldn't have been enough. ( )

I didn't really like this one too much. I am perhaps a little too traditional to enjoy this one. I probably should take another look. ( )
