Edgar Cayce's spiritual concepts and methods complement the lessons in the classical Chinese book, The Secret of the Golden Flower: A Chinese Book of Life. Both teach that we may be personalities in material bodies surrounded by a world of activity and relationships, but we are also celestial beings, sparks of life, only temporarily Incarnating. Thus, it is good to experience our infinite, eternal self and its origin. By studying and practicing Cayce and Taoism, Van Auken states that he experienced a journey to what the Taoist master called, "the womb of our pure heart and clear mind." Both of these master teachers can help you create your own authentic approach to enlightenment. Through study and practice, one can gain an understanding of the metaphysical meaning of these teachings. For example, Taoism's "Heavenly Heart between the sun and moon" is secretly the place of the mind's eye between the "eye of Ra" and the "eye of Horus." Another lesson is on being and nonbeing, which we can experience as we touch once again the original source of life, and become one with it. Our way to enlightenment also includes changing vibrations and hormones. As Cayce taught, our hormone-generating glands correlated with the chakras found in the ancient Yoga Sutra, and changing these may transform our whole vibe! The Taoist Master guides us to be patient and apply each lesson just as Cayce teaches: "For it is step by step, line by line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little, that the attaining is accomplished in the mental, the spiritual, the applications of an entity in this material world."
