In my opinion, this is a great book. The characters are very believable and relatable. The main character, Eric, struggles with a situation that I have had to face in the past. Just as Eric's older sister is leaving him at the daycare center alone to go to school, I once experienced a time when my older cousin stopped going to the same preschool as me and I was left alone. Also, the illustrations enhance the story. When Eric felt "small" and alone, the illustrations showed him in a room by himself, or alone in the corner, with others together in the background. When he was feeling "big" and confident, he was shown in a room full of friends. The main idea of this book is that we can be independent and help others to feel included. ( )

Having attended day care with his sister, Eric wonders who will look after him there, now that his sister is old enough to go to school.
