Not very entertaining send up of the tort law field, I was especially put off by the overly cutesy names of the characters and law firms. ( )Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. I found this book to be amusing at times. At other points I found it to be mediocre at best. I grew tired of the cute little renaming of people. Just was not the book I hoped it to be. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. I made it through two chapters of this "hilarious" novel with only a single smile, not a chuckle to be heard.Half a star for clever names--it would have been a full star if they had been more subtle. A second half star for spelling and punctuation. I received this as an advance reader's copy from the publisher and I still feel like I overpaid with my time. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. This is the 1st book I have read in this series. At first, I had a hard time keeping up with all the characters and cases. It was a bit distracting. Once I got the hang of it, I enjoyed all the puns on their names. Very funny book. I liked that the cases were very timely with what is going on today. I liked the wordplay with the lawyers’ names like Warren Peace and Holly Woods, and the brokerage company, Smith Blarney. It really makes you laugh out loud! I highly recommend it! Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. Shortly after receiving this book a few months ago, I read the first forty pages all at once. It's a very silly book. The sort of book where one of the characters has sex with all the ladies but don't worry he's not the main character. They're all types, in short. And the humor is pretty broad. For instance, a fellow named Cam Conman-Steele who runs a crypto exchange-cum-ponzi scheme called FUX hired celebrities to promote FUX, such as football player Lom Grady (and model exwife Gazelle Munchkin), basketball player Strange Curry, and actor Batt Gamon. I bet it won't take you long to decipher their real-life equivalents. I really want to keep reading the book to get a lawyerly take on these things but the shallowness of the humor feels like a missed opportunity to me, and it's making it hard for me to want to pick the book back up. I have nothing against cheap yuks, but humor can be an exquisite tool to explore the foibles of the rich and powerful, and nothing in the opening chapters leads me to believe that it will do anything of the sort here. I'm not getting rid of the book yet and, if I do return to it, I'll also return to this review. We'll see. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
