Jews have a history of being an oppressed people and the fact that this author chose to celebrate their culture in such a great way made me proud to read it to my child. This book included things very specific to the Jewish beliefs and customs, food is a great way to measure the year and the symbolism each item means to the Jewish culture. I would highly recommend this book to children of ALL ages! I think everyone could stand to learn something about cultures that aren't their own. Grades K-12 ( ) In this book, it told of how each holiday in a Jewish family was celebrated. It mainly highlighted on the different foods and treats that a family would prepare on a holiday. I would certainly read this book to my students during one of the Jewish holidays so that they can learn about each one. Maybe incorporate a treat specifically designated to a holiday. I think this book can help students learn about different cultural practices, not just their own. This book describes all the holidays in the jewish year. While I did find this to be engaging for the kids (they love holidays - and to be honest who doesn't?) I did find it to be light on content. There was little to no explanation of the holidays, just a description of what they do for the holidays. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
