It lets children know that its ok to miss a parent and that they will always be there at the end of the day. I loved this book. The rhyme scheme and the art work are engaging. I recall this book being read to me as a child. The quote "Oh, my baby, little one, the hardest thing I do is hold you tight, then let you go and walk away from you" pulls the reader into the emotional story that is about to ensue. The artwork is sweet and soft. I also like how the characters are birds. This means that children from all races and religions can relate to their story. The book carries on to describe both the mothers day versus the babys day. They miss each other when they work and play, when they eat lunch, and even when the baby naps. I feel as though this would be a great bedtime story to soothe young children in low elementary school and preschool. A good story for youngsters just starting school, Mama bird says goodbye to her youngster and assures him that her love follows him throughout the day. This is recommended as a lap read for children who are showing some anxiety about being separated from home. If I had read this book to my girls, they would probably have been confused about WHY the child might cry, but I know there are many kiddos who struggle with those first days of school. The poem is tender and the illustrations are soft and beautiful. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
