This book talks more about the author David Chippi and his journey. He recalls his childhood interactions with the kitchen and his jobs that involved restaurants and catering. He also was asked to do live cooking demonstrations on televisions and to teach cooking classes. In 2018, a health scare moved him to the Low Salt world and he quickly discovered how limited the commercial products would be to his diet--so he set out to adapt recipes to make flavorful versions of dishes he enjoyed in the past.
There are a handful of what he considers "foundational" recipes at the very end of the book. (If you are looking for recipes only volume 2 is probably more your style.) These recipes are bread products, making your own lunchmeats, barbecue sauces that mimic popular ones, salsa, jerky and possibly a few others.
His story was interesting to read. I don't know that I'll buy this book to add to my low salt recipe collection though since so few recipes are in it. (I borrowed my copy from the library to check it out before deciding if I would buy it). ( )
