There is a lot going on. We are treated to a lot of characters and story threads. The author does a good job of weaving those threads together to keep the reader engaged and continue the storyline / plot across multiple character POVs. We have a hero who is learning to embrace his duty paired with a powerful love story. The story has so many layers of detail and lore that I was always left guessing about who might pop up next or what their next move would be. The only problems I had was that it was too much about the love interest to my liking. The main character just started loving her literally the second he saw her. But it didn’t really feel like love at first sight, he was just immediately ready to kill people that hurt her. It just felt very odd. It would’ve been better had the main character not made so many decisions just because of his love for her.
