I received this book as a LibraryThing Early reviewer. This book is a list of everything of note that happened in 1983. What is considered important? Well, that's pretty subjective, but this book catalogues the events pretty well. ( )

In historical fact, 1983 was a pretty grim year. It was the year when I remember calling the Washington Post "The Morning Alarm & Despondency" and complaining about having to read it for my student labor job--why did that paper always print such depressing news? Well...that's how the news really was.

However, this series of yearbooks limits the attention given to headline news and presents plenty of pop culture news, stories of music, sports, bestselling books, movies, fashion, and shopping trends, so most of the memories it stirs up should be relatively pleasant.

One warning. This series of books contain so many pictures that your computer may choke on the e-book versions. Mine did; for months it couldn't move them out of the spam folder even to delete them! Buying the printed version will save you some irritation. ( )

What a great reminder of what we experienced in 1983!
It starts out a little dark, but some bad things did happen in 1983.
SO much of what we consider as Pop Culture happened that year.
Especially in the movies and music – history being made!
If you want to travel back to 1983, read this book. ( )

I was a kid in the 1980's so this book brought back memories and taught me some new things I didn't know happened during that year. I loved the variety of topics covered from news events to world events to movies - and even old ads from the era! I really enjoyed this little book of nostalgia. ( )
