This story is about a mom and her daughter who are mad at each other. When Dinah’s mother yells at her because she draws on the newly painted wall, the young girl goes to her room and furiously slammed her bedroom door. This book focuses on how each character who is so upset vents her anger “Dinah plopped into her rocking chair. She rocked back and forth, back and forth-hard. Rocking made Dinah feel good.” Dinah’s mom also does some exercises on her Exercycle and hardly pushes at the pedals “Whizz. Whizz. Pedaling mad Mama Feel good.” While Dinah is rocking in her chair, she fantasizes about all the bad and horrible things that should happen to her mother to make her feel sorry for screaming at her. In the last pages when Dinah’s mom remembers when her mother get so angry because she cut a magic cape out of her curtains, Dinah also scares that her evil wishes could come true. At the end of the story, Dinah’s and her mother meet at the bedroom door for lovely reconciliation. The illustration shows the common feelings that angry children might experience when they are mad at their mothers in a humorous style. I loved how the story displays the idea that even though we may sometimes get upset at our parents, we should know that no one in the hole world loves or cares about us in the same way that our parents do.
