I enjoyed this story, it was such a fun sweet book that kept me engaged. I love that the story comes from Nicole's perspective, the character itself was well written. A great read with a bit of spice.

I would define it as a romantic novel with twists.
Not entirely what I expected but I throughly enjoyed it. I obviously thought the main character would be librarian, historian or something of the kind, instead it's VERY complex Nicole, well into her thirties, but still ravishing. She was a model, but she says reading has always been kind of a lifeline for her during her sometimes (very) difficult life.
And it's Guy, 12-13 years older, her "musketeer", who is not from Gascogne and not a D'Artagnan, but the proud owner of a real châteu in the Bordeaux region and everything that goes with it (in-laws included).
And it's her best friend and her family, and it's her extremely complicated ex...
Of course there is money and glamour galore... which I enjoy even if I expected more action/adventure. But you feel, and enjoy and laugh and you suffer.
And last but not least the "quirky" castle, nicknamed by her "the duchess", and rightly so, I think.
I'm very much looking forward to the next one, "Deceiving D'Artagnan", which should come out shortly. ( )

Nicole meets Guy at her place of employment. She likes him but he seems torun roughshod over her. They end up getting married and he’s still bossy but she knows how to get around him by now. An old Beau shows up and an accident happens, but in the end Nicole knows who she really loves.
I enjoyed this book very much. Thank You for the opportunity to read it ( )
