This book assumes that the child reading is probably Jewish and has some familiarity with Passover traditions. Throughout the story, the traditions and the reasons behind them are explained somewhat but not in great detail. After the story ends, there is a page at the end titled The Story of Passover that explains in greater detail the Biblical reason for Passover and its traditions. If you or your child are unfamiliar with the details, I would recommend reading this page first - it will help the story make more sense.

This was a heartwarming story that focused on family, food, and fun at the Seder. The illustrations were bright and colorful. I think this is a great Passover picture book for early elementary school age kids whether Jewish or not. ( )

A family joins together for their Passover celebration. They gather just like any other family gathers for holidays. An uncle performs magic tricks; other family members prepare food and decorations. The house is in complete chaos, but a good chaos. The use of Jewish vocabulary is few but effective. This book is a good teaching tool for other religions. At the end, the other has the story of Passover and a list of questions that may be remaining. This is a pretty good book. ( )

This book explores the many-generational celebration of one family during Passover. Warmly drawn and sincere, it is a great book for kids who celebrate the holiday and those unfamiliar with it.

This is a good example of realistic fiction. What the characters are doing are the things you would really do to celebrate passover. It is a fictional story based on what really happens. The setting is important that it be in spring because the particular time of passover is important.
