I really enjoyed this book and the cast of characters who live in Moonflower. I can't wait to read more from the author. ( )

This book is centered around a 20-year high school reunion where a murder occurs early in the novel. Instead of people, the characters are vampires, werewolves, witches, and other paranormal entities. The book would have worked if it were centered around recent graduates, but the 40-something characters act much too immature for their age. I think teens would enjoy the book, but it should be labeled Young Adult. ( )

3 stars. Samantha is not a witch; but everyone else in town-some type of paranormal. ALL the tropes are here so buckle up. This is my first read in a three book (so far) series. It was pretty good. The story is that Samantha is a single mom to a witchling?, runs her own catering business and sort of dates a vampire sheriff and some other guy that I think is a werewolf. The plot is the twenty year high school reunion pulls all the mean girls and old lovers together. Of course one of them is murdered and the twist is the school is mysteriously locked by some kind of spell-no one in or out, and the murderer is still on the loose. There is angst, drama, old relationships, magic, ghosts, and it was a decent read. The story moves right along and there is some drama with family and friends outside the school trying to open the doors before the Paranormal Council sends in a TASK FORCE. If you have read the first two books, you will love this one; if you haven't, well, it's not too confusing. The characters seem like nice people, the magic/paranormal elements work and the murder was convoluted but wrapped up nicely in a way that made sense within the story. There were some spelling/grammar/formatting issues that I see more and more in Kindle but nothing too excessive. Overall, a good book that was interesting enough that I will pick up the first two. #LibraryThing provided my copy of this book; this is my own opinion.

Samantha is attending her class reunion, when a classmate is found dead. While attempting to solve the murder, Samantha must deal with her feelings about the death of her husband. This is Reunion, Runes, & Revenge by Beverly A. Rearick.

The protagonist, Samantha, was a girl next door type of character. You couldn’t help but root for her and feel her pain. Nikki, Samantha’s best friend and her cousin, Ethan, were fun characters with Nikki having a splash of naughty about her. Van and Brandon were a great foil with each other as they both vie for Samantha. There was a good mixture of magic including characters such as vampires, fairies, and etc. along with different spells.

The plot was a typical cozy, but rather charming with all the magic included. The writing flowed well and the story kept moving without a bunch of filler in between the plots points. I haven’t read the other books in the series, but I had no problem following this latest entry in the Moonflowers Mystery Series. Overall, an enjoyable cozy mystery that any fan of the genre will want to read.

While I haven't read the previous books in this serie, I really enjoyed this one! It didn't feel like I was missing a huge amount of info, and could be read as a standalone. The vibes were really nice, it truly felt like a high school reunion! And the mystery was fun too, I enjoyed having my own theories every time a new element came up. Plus, using runes added just a bit more fun, I was trying to make sense of each one that came up. Not a huge fan of the whole "love triangle" thing, but it ended up being written better than I thought. Also, the reveal at the end really was unexpected, but made total sense! Maybe it ended a little bit too quick after that, so we could get a huge climax, but the ending wasn't bad.
Overall, a nice discovery! ( )
