Many years ago, a man moved to the forest and knocked down many trees to make room for the house he wanted to build. He left one tree that would live through many generations as the family grew. Many years later the man's great, great grandson protected the tree from being knocked down from workers who were trying to expand the road because of the growing traffic. With the help of his animals friend, the boy persuadesthe workers to devise a plan that will make everyone happy. So, they make the road go around the tree, leaving plenty of room for the tree to continue to grow in the upcoming years. ( ) In my opinion “The Family Tree” by David McPhail is a good book for children. I like this book because it addresses an important issue in terms simple enough for young children to understand. In the book a young boy must stop a tree by his house from being cut down to make room for a road. I think that this would be a great book to teach children about nature, and the importance of preserving it. “The Family Tree” is best for readers on a K-2nd grade level. A man works hard to build a home for his family. During that process, he leaves one tree standing on his land. This tree becomes a part of a family because it has survived generations. One day, construction of a new road threatens the existence of the tree. A little boy, determined to keep the tree standing, welcomes the help of a few animal "activists." They're effort will prove to be beneficial, because the road is built, and the tree still stands. In this story a man who builds a house next to a large tree and years pass and his great great grandson lives in the house and the city wants to build a road but the tre is in the way. The boy stands firms and wont let them build a road where the tree stands so a road is built around the tree. Source: Pierce County Lirbrary Ages: 4-6 nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
