If you've just been to a party where the host thought that hummus, cheeses, bread and various third world wines were enough for his guests, this is the book to console yourself with. Author uses foie gras with lavishness and exuberance. If I have to get the gout, then eating at Au Pied de Cochon is probably the best way to do it.
