Flying the nest? Here's everything you need to know to spread your wings and make a thriving home for yourself in the world. Scared of adulting? You're not alone? And your parents' generation agrees that you have it hard. In fact, one recent survey found that over 70% of Americans think that young adults have a tougher time than the generations that came before them. The truth is, even people in their 30s and 40s are scared of adulting. That's why we have a word for it? But daunting as it may seem, you are an adult, which comes with certain responsibilities. Responsibilities you can fulfill without giving them a second thought? once you know what bases you need to cover. Whether you're still at home, you're away at college, or you've just moved into your first house share, there are a few things you're going to want to know? a few things the education system failed to teach you. How can you make sure you cover those gaps in your education? There's an easy solution? Adulting 101 - How Not to Move Back Home With Your Parents, will tell you everything you need to know to thrive as an independent adult. Inside, you'll discover: * Essential budgeting information (complete with how-to guides for a variety of different approaches). * From credit cards to personal loans - everything you need to know about financing. * Why retirement is relevant to you now (no matter how many years away from it you are). * What no one tells you about applying for a job (delve into the advice your careers advisor left out!). * Everything you need to know about running a household - whether you're sharing or going it alone. * How you can make sure you're the best roommate ever (and how to navigate potential difficulties). * The ultimate guide to maintaining and nurturing relationships of all kinds and much more. Every adult in your life has been in your shoes? But not all of them had a manual. Set yourself firmly on the path to pain-free adulting success!… (altro)

Many really good tips I could have used. We are sharing it with our adult kids.

This is a bit of a mixed bag, but I don’t honestly know how it could be anything else. The whole point is to teach you about what you don’t know that you don’t know. But for a broad audience. I knew a good chunk of what was in here (which was comforting) and there were a few things I definitely didn’t know (about buying a home mostly). Somethings felt dated already despite this book coming out during the pandemic.

All and all I can’t say with confidence how helpful this book will be to a given reader. Young people living on their own for the first time are probably the best audience. I’m not that, you just don’t know what you don’t and they’re just giving it their best guess. ( )

Although filled with some helpful information- there are many parts that would have benefited from having illustrations (such as balancing a checkbook) I at the very least, to make it more interesting. Unfortunately it felt as if the author was almost talking down to the reader. As much as I wanted this book to be amazing, I ended up being less than impressed. ( )

Adulting 101: How Not to Move Back Home with Your Parents: 135 Life Skills - Money Matters, Cooking, Job Interviewing, Car Basics, Dating, and Everything Else You Should Know Before You're 25 is a practical how to guide about basic things the author thinks every young adult should know. Topics covered inlcude finances, workplace etiquette, and relationships among other things. I'd give this book two out of five stars. There are a few helpful suggestions such as writing thank you notes after a job interview and when and how to perform basic car maintenance. Other hints however seem less helpful. The suggestion is made that sleeping with a bunch of random strangers is an emotionally healthy way to deal with a break up, as long as the sheets are changed often. Overall, all of the helpful information could easily be found somewhere else. I work with high school students and was hoping this would be a helpful resource for them, but after reading it, I'll keep looking for something else.
