Joe Lamp'l is the dean of teaching about vegetable gardening! His hands on, plain spoken, understated approach makes you feel like you are in a garden with your grandparent as he teaches you the basics and the secrets of gardening! I love his television shows, but they go by so quickly that I just can't absorb all the information he presents. That's where this book comes in....one can take their time and digest what he is teaching. And he teaches so much information! Not snooty things like Latin pronunciations, or flowery language on how pretty something is, but down to earth practical information. And he comes across as someone you could easily be friends with and enjoy a beer with after an afternoon of gardening! This is a great book, for beginning gardeners, or for people like me who have been at it for over half a century! ( )
