David Grant wakes to find himself in the hold of a ship, beaten and strapped to a chair. The Family, David's name for his underground business, are searching for him. Igor Volkov, a business rival and an old colleague of The Family, ambushed David in Venezuela and wants to deliver him to the new, ruthless Russian Mafia, hoping to win their favor. Now, many underground organizations see The Family as vulnerable. Jobs awarded to The Family are being interfered with by rivals stealing shipments of weapons, stopping assassinations, and capturing people who can reveal many of The Family's secrets. The Family's government contact, Peter Thompson, reveals he has moles within his ranks. The traitors are circulating documents that expose secrets the government and The Family never wanted released. Peter contracts The Family to eradicate his defiant employees before they release further information to saboteurs who use the intelligence to destroy the government's integrity, and The Family's involvement with classified operations. The Family must go on the offensive to stop the onslaught of attacks from friends and foes while internally struggling to stay relevant in a world of new technology, procedures, and a merciless way of doing business.… (altro)

Toilet blocked? Need a new vanity? Are you missing information that will stop an international incident? What about an assassination? All this can be organised through the local plumbing company. I’m not sure if Stephen Briggs is letting off steam about people who have crossed him in the past, but just in case I’m giving his book a great review.
‘Lies Lead to Death’ starts fast and bloody then keeps going, taking the reader on a rollercoaster of espionage, murder and double crosses. The story is creative with a clear plot and story progression. Briggs strong lead character, David, introduces the reader to the family businesses. Plumbing and assassination. This close-knit group can address all your plumbing needs including repairs, parts and service. If you’re the right person in the right business, they’ll also assassinate whoever you need gone, whenever and wherever you need it done.
Working in conjunction with government agencies, the formidable family cut a swath through those threatening the stability of world peace. Better yet, the plot is believable even if the concept of ‘The Family’ is not. James Bond does similar, why not ‘The Family’? The action is constant, the murder is detailed and bloody. This business even has a cleaning crew. If you hire a hitman, you also get a complimentary cleaning service.
If you’re a woman who likes action, you won’t be disappointed with strong female characters emerging through the storyline. More espionage is coming with readers left hanging at the end of the book. As well as being a riveting read it was a great instruction manual. I have a few outstanding problems left to tidy up myself. ( )

I received this book and one other from the same publishing company, and I have noticed a common theme between the two. Whoever the editor is, needs to be fired. They have done a horrible job. The overuse of the first name, and sometimes even the full name, hinders the flow of the book so much that I could not get through this book or the other one from the same publisher. I feel bad, because both books have promise, but another round of edits is desperately needed. The conversations in the book seem more monologue-ish, and not very appealing. I hate that I have been so mean to these books, but I cannot enjoy them in the way they are now. ( )

Lord, the entire while I was reading, I was wondering if things like this actually happened. It definitely does, but I'd like not to believe it.
The storyline and writing are outstanding.
Although it's not my go-to genre, I can now say with certainty that I'm a Stephen Briggs fan!

Sidenote: Lol, It was hilarious how the family pretended to be plumbers. ( )
