I dont like i had to give this one a lower rating but only did because compared to the other books it didnt suck me in like the others. I didnt DNF it and glad i did as it did start to pickup and make me want to read the next one very soon ( ) Can’t say this one really grabbed me and pulled me in. I did finish it all in one day but was doing other tasks here and there while listening. I was truly confused as to this book having a character named Minho in it… Minho was in the original stories but this book is set 73 years after book 3… I mean he could still be alive but didn’t seem to be depicted as old in this book.. was this a new Minho? I’ll probably need to reread this one again later as I might have missed something. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. It's been a long time between reads of the Maze Runner and this story. I was so excited to jump back into the story as I always felt there was lots to be explored after the last book. I'm glad I was familiar with the Maze world before this book or I would have been really lost. There are many references and callbacks to the original story. I really enjoyed meeting the new characters and following their stories as they come together. I felt like this story lacked a little of the magic of the original series, but that could be because I had so much invested in the original characters. After the ending, I'm interested to find out what happens next. Looking forward to the next book. Probably is.But life and death are the beginning and end of beauty. You can't have one without the other.” Set 70 years after the conclusion to the Maze Runner series, this book drops us right into a new conflict and follows three different story lines that each have their own issues and end goals. You have the Gladers who lived peacefully on the island since the end of the first series, a new religious cult based on an evolution of the flare virus and a third group who opposes everything flare-related. While making for a fast pacing novel, it left a little to be desired as way of actually story, as there was so much thrown together in such a short time-span. While I love dystopian YA novels, I also feel that many of them start off strong and end weakly. But I am willing to give this one another chance as the plot of this new series has potential (and I enjoyed the Maze Runner series). ~ARC received through LibraryThing Early Reviewers~ Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. I am a hardcore fan of the original Maze Runner series so I was excited to see it continue. Unfortunately, this book was a miss for me. I felt like it took way too long to develop the characters, and even then they were barely developed. I was often left feeling that paragraphs were unfinished, or that dialogue was insipid and unnecessary. It almost felt to me like this was a first draft that never got an editor to go back in and clean it up or make it flow. Maybe I'll give it another go when others are out, but I did not enjoy reading this. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Seventy-three years after the events of The Death Cure, when Thomas and other immunes were sent to an island to survive the Flare-triggered apocalypse, their descendants have thrived. Sadina, Isaac, and Jackie all learned about the unkind history of the Gladers from The Book of Newt and tall tales from Old Man Frypan, but when a rusty old boat shows up one day with a woman bearing dark news of the mainland-everything changes. The group and their islander friends are forced to embark back to civilization where they find Cranks have evolved into a more violent, intelligent version of themselves. They are hunted by the Godhead, the Remnant Nation, and scientists with secret agendas. When they cross paths with an orphan named Minho from the Remnant Nation, the dangers become real and they don't know who they can trust. The islanders will have to survive long enough to figure out why they are being targeted, who is friend or foe, and what the Godhead has planned for the future of humanity.
