I looked for things to do other than continue reading and had to force myself through the last 100 or so pages. The story itself is good with a powerful ending. Unfortunately, Hugo felt it necessary to all too often inject chapter long descriptions on everything from hypocrisy to the wind, to an octopus. Far from just adding color and depth he seemed compelled to empty himself of every fancy he had on each subject. By the end of some of these chapters it was difficult to recall where we were in the plot. I‘m glad this is over. Unfortunately, it leaves me less inclined to restart Les Misérables, which is in my queue, as I stopped reading that finding it slow in developing. ( ) nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
