An interesting album from an amateur photographer with some browning and blurring but most photos are good. The photographs are in corner mounts with a number adhering to the mounts. Arranged on both sides of the first 14 pages of the black thick paper of the album (remaining leaves are blank). Oblong leather album with tie, leather rubbed. No date. (circa late 1920s to 1930s). One of the photo was the Peninsula Hotel In Kowloon and it was taken in 1927, the year before the hotel officially opened. The images in this album are a mixture of ships, ship board life and shore photos of Hong Kong and Kowloon including Central, Happy Valley, the Peak, the Peninsula Hotel, street scenes, etc. The last leaves are images of an unnamed place probably in Southeast Asia. The HMS Herald was a 24-class minesweeping sloop. She was first launched under the name of Merry Hampton in 1918, but just 5 years later renamed the HMS Herald and converted to a survey ship. World War II brought a great change in her life, she was scuttled at Seletar in 1942, in the northern part of Singapore, raised by the Japanese, renamed Heiyo, and then finally sunk by a mine in 1944. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
