I need a moment before I update this review. ( ) Well done. I am a huge fan of the Carrera and Santiago stories. Getting a chance to dive back into this world and see things from the kid's point of view was a no-brainer for me. Initially, when I started reading this book, I expected it to be a continuation of Lola and Sam's story that had started in the Stalkers anthology. That did not turn out to be the case, although there were glimpses of those characters in the story and hopefully their story will be told at a later date because I really was intrigued by them. This story is about Thalia and Santi and it is just as good. These authors are exceptional at writing mafia. There is something magical about the way that they work together. The writing is seamless and full of everything that I come to expect in Mafia romance. They manage to portray the criminal underbelly of this world while also showing the importance of family, loyalty, and dedication to one's name. I dig that about them. They reinforce my love of Mafia Romance. There is always suspense with more than a hint of danger for these characters. I loved the characters in this one. I felt bad for Thalia being in the position that she was because her intentions were good. I also felt the connection between her and Santi. I liked how there were things that mirrored both of their parents in previous books. I found myself pairing up secondary characters (of course one of those pairs being Sam and Lola) in hopes that these authors continue their stories after this duet. This book wasn't as heavy on the steam until later in the book and instead focused on the anticipation of that pivotal moment. Even though this story happens in a very fast period of time, it doesn't feel like it is fast-paced. This book ended on a whopper of a cliffhanger. Everything was finally falling into place regarding things that seemed like one side was the guilty party but nothing prepared me for how this book ended. I need the next book like I need air to breathe. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
From Cora Kenborn and Catherine Wiltcher comes Corrupt Gods, a brand-new arranged-marriage mafia duet.A Santiago is a lesson in ruin.A Carrera bleeds for revenge.Thalia Santiago is the daughter of my enemy. A beautiful rebel with a single cause. Impulsive. Fearless. And ripe for her father's undoing. I recognized her the moment she stepped into my casino. I watched her start the fires that burned her pretty fingers, and then I poured gasoline on the flames. Now she's in my debt, and her dues are a shiny gold ring and a vow of deception. I'll bend her. I'll break her. I'll turn our mockery of a marriage into a battlefield. And that river of bad blood that flows between our two families? I'll make it an ocean of hate. This is book one of a new dark-romance duet. Tainted Blood, book two, is now live.Bad Blood is set in the Santiago and Carrera worlds, but it is not necessary to have listened to either trilogy beforehand.
