This book was wild. Like I'm not entirely positive what I just read. And while I could use my brain an piece together what was happening, I really didn't like how the author waited til the end of the book to explain some key world building bits. Also the narration was painfully slow. I listened at 1.5x just to make it sound like a normal audiobook. Unsure if this would be considered YA or Adult. Like I feel more confused now than I did before I read the book. Honestly it kind of felt like a fever dream or I read it while on a bad trip or something. ( )

There was an interesting concept here, but the story was riddled with holes, either hastily patched or just plain ignored, and the characters were unevenly developed and often lacking likeable features. ( )

This took me in unexpected directions. When I started it, I thought I knew where it might be headed, but I was quite wrong and was pleasantly surprised as a result. Granted there are some horrible moments in the story, but they're overshadowed by the nicely crafted suspense and the emotional pull between Delaney and Colton. I hope to enjoy more from this author in the future. ( )

This was a fun read which I enjoyed a lot.
Ms Andrew has a great way with words which let the story flow effortless and which let even the side characters come to life in colour.
Yes, some parts were a bit predictable but those were made up for with a nice spooky setting. ( )

Delaney Meyers-Petrov is tired of being seen as fragile just because she's Deaf. So when she's accepted into a prestigious program at Godbole University that trains students to slip between parallel worlds, she's excited for the chance to prove herself. But her semester gets off to a rocky start as she faces professors who won't accommodate her disability, and a pretentious upperclassman fascinated by Delaney's unusual talents.

Colton Price died when he was nine years old. Quite impossibly, he woke several weeks later at the feet of a green-eyed little girl. Now, twelve years later, Delaney Meyers-Petrov has stumbled back into his orbit, but Colton's been ordered to keep far away from the new girl... and the voices she hears calling to her from the shadows.

Delaney wants to keep her distance from Colton -- she seems to be the only person on campus who finds him more arrogant than charming -- yet after a Godbole student turns up dead, she and Colton are forced to form a tenuous alliance, plummeting down a rabbit-hole of deeply buried university secrets. But Delaney and Colton discover the cost of opening the doors between worlds when they find themselves up against something old and nameless, an enemy they need to destroy before it tears them -- and their forbidden partnership -- apart.
