Loved this book! Took me a bit to get into it but once I was in, I was in. This book is well written and tons of twists and turns. Everytime I thought I had it figured out, something else happened to change what I thought. A book about how your past and secrets can catch up with you.

A fast-paced, quick ride of a thriller. After having had to push through some pretentious, dense, arty stuff before, it was a relief to read an easy, sexy, yet well-executed story again. While I will say that the ending was a bit too neatly tied up for my taste, it was an exciting read full of twists and turns and rewarding nonetheless. Definitely tempted to pick up more by Rachael Tamayo now! 3,5***+

This book has got to win some kind of record for most twists in a single story. It was a rollercoaster of thinking you'd finally sorted out what was going on only to be jerked in another direction. Overall it was a really fun read. The only downside from my perspective was the way that sex work was talked about in the book - this is not a sex work-positive book and tries to paint anyone engaged in sex work as horrible, disgusting, etc. I think the plot would have still worked just fine without all the shaming and vilifying of sex workers. In this book, what happens in Vegas, doesn’t stay in Vegas. It comes back to haunt you in the form of a greedy female psychopathic con-artist, (aptly referred to in the book as “some crazy psycho bitch”). She targets a family who isn’t so innocent themselves, and their secrets get revealed over the course of the book.
The story is told from different points of view, changing every few chapters so we get in the heads of a few of the main characters (rather than just one protagonist).
Overall, this was an enjoyable, fast-paced suspense with big shockers. It was less strong in the latter quarter or fifth of the book, falling a little flat with a rushed, anti-climatic ending.
Thank you to the author and publisher for a complimentary copy of this book; my review is an honest one. ( )
