I enjoy romance stories but this one was so much more. Alexi Montgomery, a doctor, gets stuck in a small town and meets Daniel Grant and sparks fly. They are from two entirely different worlds but they cannot keep away from one another and fall in love. How do two people go through life without each other? Or do you somehow find a way to make it work. I look forward to reading more from this author. 3.5 Audiobook - two good narrators. This is a weird one for me. I read it quickly and can’t say that I didn’t enjoy it BUT I found the central roadblock in this one incredibly silly. I wish there was less reliance on “wow! He’s so good at sex” / bolt from the blue / love at first sight / “the town wants what it wants” and more of actually showing why these two fell in love. It’s most left to you filling in the blanks after the author tells you that they spent five hours talking on the phone. I also think it’s good that the story illustrates different kinds of abuse in a non- lecture type of way that might actually pass on useful information to women so they can recognize it in their own life or the lives of their friends and internalize some possible strategies in a more subtle way than a PSA on TV. I think the author is setting up the foundations for a bunch of books here too which is mildly annoying to me. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

With so many differences between them, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his? "Abby Jimenez??s words are like fairy dust... they sprinkled humor and warmth all over my life. Alexis, an ER doctor from a pretentious medical dynasty, thinks she’s just passing through little, podunk Wakan on her way back to big-city life. But when she swerves to miss a raccoon, she and her Mercedes wind up in a ditch, leading to a series of humorous and honest events that have her questioning whether she belongs more to this world than the one where all her obligations and expectations live.
