This book was a completely wild ride. The characters are absolutely hilarious even with the topics of death and the afterlife at the core of this story.
The afterlife was presented in a way that I had never really imagined and the overcrowding due to the pandemic made it all the more worrisome. You basically pick up living in a new world with all of your ailments cured, tattoo's removed and have to go to orientation to learn about this new place you are in. Angus quickly learns that you can grow old, have babies, be killed or die again in this new existence and this makes him question everything he may or may not have known in his previous life.
When I started this book I was immediately reminded of Sue Townsend's book "The Adrian Mole Diaries" with Angus's trials and tribulations and ongoing inner dialogue; and Mark Haddon's "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time". This book is way darker though.
Should probably have a trigger warning regarding suicide and infanticide.
Regardless, I thoroughly enjoyed the book and will definitely look into reading some of his other books. ( )
