Fantasy. Fiction. Romance. Historical Fiction. HTML:

In Thorne Manor there is one locked door. Behind it lies a portal to the twenty-first century, and nothing is going to stop Miranda Hastings from stepping through. After all, she is a Victorian writer of risqué pirate adventures??traveling to the future would be the greatest adventure of them all.

When Miranda goes through, though, she lands in Georgian England...and in the path of Nicolas Dupuis, a privateer accused of piracy. Sheltered by locals, Nico is repaying their kindness by being their "pirate Robin Hood," stealing from a corrupt lord and fencing smuggled goods on the village's behalf.

Miranda embraces Nico's cause, only to discover there's more to it than he realizes. Miranda has the second sight, and there are ghosts at play here. The recently deceased former lord is desperate to stop his son from destroying his beloved village. Then there's the ghost of Nico's cabin boy, who he thought safe in a neighboring city. Miranda and Nico must solve the mystery of the boy's death while keeping one step ahead of the hangman.

It may not be the escapade Miranda imagined, but it is about to be the adventure of a lifetime.… (altro)

Another great installment in the "A Stitch in Time" series. I love that so many people know of the time portal and that it works differently for each person that goes through. Miranda was able to change so many things in the town by going back, I love that she found herself a "pirate". ( )

Series Info/Source: This is the third book in the A Stictch in Time series. I borrowed this on ebook from my library.

Thoughts: All of these A Stitch in Time books have been good, but not great. This installment very much followed in that vein. These are historical time travel romances and the romance is definitely what propels the story forward. In this book we follow Rosalind's sister, Miranda, as she falls through the stitch in time at Thorne Manor. Miranda ends up falling back in time and meeting Nico, the pirate Robin Hood ghost she's seen previously, but this time alive and in the flesh. Miranda and Nico end up trying to solve the mystery of a murdered boy and save the town from bankruptcy.

I really enjoyed Miranda and Nico as characters and their romance was well done. Miranda was definitely my favorite heroine of the series so far; she is high energy and loves adventure. Nico is the perfect match for her and I adored him as well. The plot, as with all of the books in this series, is a bit thin. However, it was a quick reads and fun enough diversion. Some of the characters from previous books do end up in this story as well.

This is well written and easy to read, it just isn't as intricate and interesting as Armstrong's other books. I believe there is going to be one more book in this series focusing on Miranda/Rosalind's other sister, Portia.

My Summary (4/5): Overall this was a decent read and very consistent with the rest of the series. If you loved the first two books you should enjoy this one as well. Miranda was my favorite heroine so far and it was fun to read her story. The plot does feel a bit simple and thin but this is an entertaining, quick read if you are looking for a brief time travel romance diversion. I plan on finishing up the series. ( )

A Turn of the Tide: A Stitch in Time - Book 3 Time Travel Series by Kelley Armstrong is exciting from beginning to end and not easy to put down for any reason. The characters include time travelers, ghosts, pirates and purely evil men capable of anything.
Romance, time travel and action is blended throughout this entire series. I can’t wait for the next book by Kelley Armstrong. Where and when will they travel to next and what new adventures await them?
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. I appreciate the opportunity and thank the author and publisher for allowing me to read, enjoy and review this book. 5 Stars ( )

A Turn of the Tide by Kelley Armstrong
#3 of the Stitch in Time series. Can be read as a stand-alone but better as part of the series.
Miranda writes adventure stories for women under a masculine name. She wants an adventure herself and dares to enter the time shift in Thorne Manor she knows about from her family. She’s transported to he past where she saves a man whose death she has seen repeatedly as a ghost. Together Miranda and Nico set out on an adventure to save the local townspeople from oppression and high taxes.

Ghosts, Pirates, swords and a handsome French man. An adventure to win the heart and save the day. Engaging. A read you will want to finish in a single setting.
I am so looking forward to more of this series! Absolutely love it.

Excerpt of Miranda after dressing for the first time in “male” clothing:
“I slap my cap back in place and adjust it as I stride out the door. Also, may I just say how much easier “striding” is in trousers? In my mind, I’m often marching with purpose, but when one is wearing five layers of floor-length skirts, striding is primarily a state of mind. Now I can actually walk with purpose, which is fitting, as I have rarely been in a mood to move quite so resolutely.”

This is the third in the “Stitch in Time” series, a time travel/romance/historical fiction series. It began with Bronwyn Dale inheriting a home called Thorne Manor in the English moors in Yorkshire. Inside one of the rooms, she discovered a “stitch in time.” That is, she accidentally fell through time, two hundred years in the past, and met her current husband William Thorne.

In the second book, “A Twist of Fate,” Rosalind, the wife of William’s best friend, August Courtenay, fell into the time slip and moved forward from the nineteenth century to the twenty-first. It took her four years to find her way back to her husband and their son Edmund.

In this book, Miranda Hastings (at 25, Rosalind’s youngest sister), had overheard there was a time portal behind a locked door in Thorne Manor, and was determined to investigate. She is secretly a novelist, and was convinced there is an adventure worth writing about in this time stitch.

We also find out that Miranda has the Second Sight, and can see and communicate with ghosts. In fact she has rather been obsessed with the ghost of a legendary local pirate-turned-Robin-Hood, a man who steals from the corrupt local lord and redistributes goods to the villagers. When William and Bronwyn were away, Miranda sneaked into the room with the time stitch. She ended up in the past, fifty years earlier, in 1790. There, in the kitchen, she encountered none other than the “Robin Hood.”

She was immediately attracted to this handsome 26-year-old man, whose name is Nicolas Dupuis, called Nico, and she told him he was about to die. Of course he didn’t believe her, so she insisted on following him to the rendezvous which she has seen over and over in her visions.

Soon they are traveling together, and their conversation quickly moved from politics to sexual innuendo and banter. Of course their lives are in danger as well, so these forays into romance were counterbalanced by constant danger and hair-breadth escapes. While they were each wildly attracted to one another, Miranda worried about telling Nico the truth about who she was and “where” she was from.

Evaluation: I love this author. She is so good, especially with romances, even if she does have her male leads speak in a “husky voice” when aroused or beset by emotion. For my tastes, however, this book had a little too much hot sex and too little on the discrepancies and dissonances caused by the protagonist surviving in a different time zone, so to speak. For fans of the former rather than the latter, however, this book will be most pleasing. ( )
