Cozy Up #4
Following the hero of this series is so much fun! In every book so far, his cover has been blown shortly after he arrives in a new location, and this requires him to move again. Each book has Beau dealing with a new name, a new job, a new city, his cat Travis, and there is a murder to be solved. He is NOT like any other cozy mystery sleuth I have met in a series…I really like him.
What I liked:
* Skeeter: a big man, smarter than he might appear, more lethal than most, a wicked backstory, made a connection with Daphne in book one and still thinks about her, his tolerance and patience when I would have lost my own, his sense of right and wrong might be skewed but he does like to solve these cozy mysteries.
* Marshal Goodspeed: US Marshal assigned to Skeeter, older, chain smoker, cat lover, likes music that Skeeter is not fond of, interesting woman.
* Getting to see the main character in a new city
* That I wasn’t sure of who the murderer was till near the end
* The music references
* The way Skeeter started unearthing clues and how he came to his final conclusions regarding the murderer
* Travis: a ginger cat with many names
* The twists and turns
* Wondering about where the main character will end up next AND if he will one day settle down
* All of it really except…
What I didn’t like:
* Exactly who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about how difficult it probably would be to be in Witness Protection Program
Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely
