Having read the first book in The Weather Girls series about Sunny, I eagerly wanted to read the next book in the series about Stormy. I have to say this book lived up to my expectations. Stormy and her husband Rob temporarily separate, and he wants to rebuild the relationship which he damaged. Between her “stormy” nature and a woman who sets out to capture Rob for herself, this book kept my attention. I loved reading about Sunny, Stormy, and Windy and their fledgling wedding service business. Set in the 1970s, this book captures the essence of the time with a healthy dose of faith. I love the values illustrated by the author in this book. I also appreciate how she tells Stormy and Rob’s story while building on the story of Sunny and Pat from the first book. She also gives time to Windy and her pregnancy out of marriage. Marriage takes work and dedication, which the two display over the course of the book. I look forward to reading Windy’s story. I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Rob has really gotten himself into a mess with his wife. First he pretty much made her lose her job as a teacher. Then he decides to go work in the garage . Why did he think working with tools in his garage was a great idea to forget about his problems? A trip to the ER wasn’t in his plans. I felt bad that he had no one to call to be there with him. You can tell that Rob is missing Stormy but he isn’t sure what to do about it. Jealousy may work sometimes but in the end, the real problem is still there. There is one woman who is really pushing herself on Rob and like Stormy, I wanted to wring her neck.
Through trials, tears and forgiveness this story shows how a marriage can have problems but still be able to work through them. Stormy really has been beating herself up about something that was said to her in her past. Carrying that burden helps me understand her better. Her husband loves her unconditionally but she still has this thought that she is a horrible person. I loved the part when Stormy finally opens up to a very wise person in her life. She realizes that pride has kept her away from her husband and from a job she loved. In the moment we see where we have sinned, God is right there to wipe away our tears and help us. He is there to defend us and help us move forward.
This has been a wonderful journey with Stormy as the main character in the book. I loved how much she humbled herself and found out how much she was loved by God and her husband. There are some tense moments in the story which illustrates what pride can do when not dealt with. I eagerly await the next book in this fun series.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion. ( )
