Attualmente non vi sono conversazioni su questo libro. a delicious book; am glad to find a food writer who likes good simple food without fancy sauces and bits and pieces - someone who even admits to eating Heinz baked beans (I do too) - and who knows what makes a good sandwich. Am particularly drawn to the gooey chocolate and gingerbread recipes, lots I want to try (but I'm still in February, plenty to go). nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Classic cookery writing from the award-winning food writer and author of bestselling autobiography, 'Toast'. 'The food in "The Kitchen Diaries" is simply what I eat at home. The stuff I make for myself, for friends and family, for Sunday lunch and for snacks. These are meals I make when I am having mates over or when I want to surprise, seduce or show off. This is what I cook when I'm feeling energetic, lazy, hungry or late. This is the food that makes up my life, both the Monday to Friday stuff and that for weekends and special occasions.' 'Much of it is what you might call fast food, but some of it is unapologetically long, slow cooking. But without exception every single recipe in this book is a doddle to cook. A walk in the park. A piece of p***.' 'Fast food, slow food, big eats, little eats, quick pasta suppers, family roasts and even Christmas lunch. It is simply my stuff, what I cook and eat, every day.' Sometimes the diary entry is about the weather or what went on in the market while he purchased mushrooms or veggies. Inevitably it leads to a recipe which pairs with the story. I have prepared many meals from this book, some I follow to the letter and some I need to adapt.
One of my favorites has to be the zucchini fritters. They are filled with feta cheese and I have to say, they are addictively tasty. For the full recipe (and more enticing photos) Check out Squirrel Head Manor and Novel Meals: www.novelmeals.wordpress.com
It’s a pleasure to tuck into one of Nigel’s diary type books, I get lost I reading about daily life in England, his garden and what he plans to make for dinner. A+ from me on this cookbook. ( )
