Romance Captive Star 4 Stars Sent on a seemingly routine bail jumper case, bounty hunter Jack Dakota is furious to learn the job is a set-up. With hired thugs on their trail, Jack and his spitfire target, M. J. O’Leary must learn to trust one another if they are to survive. Far more memorable than the first book in the trilogy as Jack and M.J.’s love/hate relationship and witty banter are particularly entertaining. M. J. is in full possession of all the feistiness and life that is missing from Bailey’s character. Her snarky sarcasm is the perfect match for Jack’s flippant cynicism and when the two get together sparks fly. One again, the suspense plot is minor and the focus is on Jack and M.J.’s romance. That said, there are some developments in this area and M.J. and Bailey’s reunion is sweet. Looking forward to the final installment in the trilogy. The second book in the Stars of Mithra trilogy stars bar owner M. J. O'Leary and bounty hunter Jack Dakota. M. J. has just received a package from her best friend Bailey containing one of the huge blue diamonds that make up the Stars of Mithra when bounty hunter Jack Dakota grabs her because he's been told she skipped bail on an assault charge. An argument ensues which ends up with M. J. handcuffed when the real bad guys arrive with the intent of taking M. J. from Jack. They manage to get away from the bad guys and go on the run. M. J. needs to make contact with Bailey and her other best friend Grace who must have been sent the third diamond. Jack is just trying to find out what is going on but he knows for sure that he has to keep M. J. safe until he finds some answers. Pursued by bad guys, they head to Grace's hidden county home in the hopes of reconnecting with her and Bailey. Along the way, the two of them fall in love and gradually learn to trust each other. This was a very nice contemporary romantic suspense title narrated by Scott Merriman who did a good job with both the male and female voices. This was a fast read. Well-written as all of Nora Roberts books are and it has some interesting characters but it was pretty unsophisticated compared to her later writings. I'm undecided about whether I'm going to read the other books in the trilogy. They're the kind of books that I might have read before and not remembered. I do admit that I'm pretty sure that I have not read Captive Star before. Fiction.
Romance.
HTML: It should have been a piece of cake. All he had to do was pick up some pretty little bail jumper who wasn't even bothering to hide. But cynical bounty hunter Jack Dakota soon discovered there was nothing easy about spitfire M.J. O'Leary--or about this case. Someone had set them both up. Now they were handcuffed together and on the run from a pair of hired killers. And M.J. wasn't talking--not even when Jack found a gigantic blue diamond hidden in her purse. Everything told Jack this alluring vixen couldn't be trusted . . . everything, that is, except his captive heart. .Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
