Time travels: always fun. This one was too, but could have been better.

First: it was the third volume in the series of which I haven't read the first two volumes. It was possible to read it without knowledge of the other books.

Cyber Criminal Enforcement Agent Christine Stewart wants to keep her family and friends safe. United States anno 2072 is not a safe place to live, because the country is on the brink of war.
She and her colleagues devise a plan in which the families go to the past, United States, Alexandria, Virgina 1791.
Fun, ok, interesting ok, but after five chapters I went to the last chapter to decide whether I wanted to go on, and it took me two more chapters to find out why I didn't really like it.
There was no pace, chapter after chapter preparations for the trip, than chapter after chapter literally building of the community in the past. Which was kind of boring.
The pace came when a rogue agent came out of USA 2072 to USA 1791 to steal valuable items. Then it changed and finally it was good enough to keep reading till to late in the night.
The ending, in USA 1910, was too short.

Disclaimer: I got this book in the Librarything Early Reviewers ( )

I didn't finish. I read 22%. The idea seems great except that it ignores the very obvious fact that by being, in such a large group, in the past, they are very likely to change things. It would have been different if the group had acknowledged this and mitigated the risk or decided they just didn't care as long as they were saving themselves.

The writing is very very choppy and sounds like you are reading directions. There is very little in the way of smooth flow. I'm not sure how to describe it, but I think these two things kept me from finishing. I usually really like time travel books and I do think it is hard to do well. There is always a bit of suspended belief but this one asks for too much of that. ( )

In this third book, a war breaks out in 2072, with all appearances leading Christine and her time-travelling colleagues to seaking an escape by going backward to a time they already visited and know. However, after starting to establish themselves in the past, events of that time will conspire to teach them that hardships can happen in many timelines. ( )

This is book three of a series, only regret was I hadn't read the first two although I'm currently correcting that.

United States, 2072, Los Angeles & Alexandria, VA, 1790s.

I love time travel books and this one is great. To attempt to survive in 2072 a group decides to travel back to the 1790s to a place they know a little about and hope they are prepared to face the survival challenges of the 1790s.

With the country under the threat of war, a group of time-traveling government agents devise a risky plan to keep their families safe. But transporting hundreds of years to the past and blending in may prove much more dangerous than they expected.

Cyber Criminal Enforcement Agent Christine Stewart has been to the past before and thinks she knows what to expect. She couldn't be more wrong.

Life in the eighteenth century is anything but ideal, especially when they learn a rogue agent with plans to strike it rich follows them back in time. Armed with a modern-day weapon, the agent may disrupt the timeline in the most disastrous way and alter history as they know it.

Now they're refugees in their own homeland, and how they proceed will determine their fate. Will they crash and burn in their race to stop the defector before it's too late? ( )
