Thriller Another good crime story about not looking at the whole picture as things are not as they seem. A husband and wife and their 20 something son were found guilty and sent to prison for crimes they did not commit. It has been over 20 yrs since and the kids who were supposedly harmed are now being murdered. We learn that the girl who started the story of kids being abused is only protecting herself. Jane cannot find the evidence to arrest her so it seems like she may be a character in a future novel.Goodreads: In the twelfth gripping novel featuring Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles, the crime-solving duo¥featured in the smash-hit TNT series Rizzoli & IslesÂ¥are faced with the gruesomely staged murder of a horror film producer. The crime scene is unlike any that Detective Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles have ever before encountered. The woman lies in apparently peaceful repose on her bed, and Maura finds no apparent cause of death, but there is no doubt the woman is indeed dead. The victim?s eyes have been removed and placed in the palm of her hand, a gesture that echoes the terrifying films she produces. Is a crazed movie fan reenacting scenes from those disturbing films? When another victim is found, again with no apparent cause of death, again with a grotesquely staged crime scene, Jane and Maura realize the killer has widened his circle of targets. He?s chosen one particular woman for his next victim, and she knows he?s coming for her next. She?s the only one who can help Jane and Maura catch the killer. But she knows a secret. And it?s a secret she?ll never tell. I Know a Secret 4 Stars Detective Jane Rizzoli and Medical Examiner Maura Isles investigate a series of deaths related to a daycare abuse scandal from twenty years before. The case in this book immediately called to mind the movie Unspeakable Acts from the 1990s. The events of the film, based on a true story, were particularly horrifying given the crimes committed against young children. Yet, today it is clear that false and manipulated memories led to the imprisonment, and even deaths, of numerous innocent people. While it is possible to guess many of the plot twists including the killer's identity and motivation, the case is, nevertheless, very engaging with several tense and suspenseful moments. In terms of the characters, there are personal developments for both Maura and Jane, or more specifically for their mothers. Moreover, Maura also seems to have made a decision with regard to her romantic future, and it is really quite satisfying. Although this is the final installment in the series at this time, Gerritsen has left the door open for more books, and it will be interesting to see if a certain sociopathic character put in a return appearance. I Know a Secret (Rizzoli & Isles, #12) by Tess Gerritsen Detective Jane Rizoli and Medical Examiner Maura Isles are investigating two separate murders. Each at separate locations, no apparent ties to each, interesting wounds and unknown cause of death. As they search for answers in this compelling case they also face challenges in their (private) life. The story moves at a fast pace with in depth medical details, (criminal) procedural clues, engaging dialog and edge-of-your-seat moments. Adding the family lives of Jane and Maura makes a perfect blend of murder, crime and drama. I was engrossed from the first page. Intense, thrilling, hard to put down. I highly recommend I Know a Secret and look forward to the next book in this series from Tess Gerritsen. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
