This book is good for early childhood and primary learners. It personifies the way that trees grow and interact in and with the world around them. I found it to be beautiful, but without significant depth or value.

Lush, immersive illustrations. Poetic, glorifying prose.As a Washingtonian, I appreciate the Pacific Northwest birds (Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Brown Creeper, Pileated Woodpecker) and tree (Pacific Madrone) species. My favorite spread is of the person and dog beneath the white flowering tree and the words: "They make people happy like snow." Backmatter includes Author & Illustrator Notes, Suggestions for Further Reading, conservation organizations, and A List of Trees in This Book. Gorgeous endpapers, too. ( )
