It is locked into a place and time, but it can provide a valuable historical look at where we were before we got where we are now. Other than Sean Hannity, none of the people the author discusses are currently king makers or power players, but they did influence the direction the country has taken. And that's my biggest beef with the book. The author makes a number of predictions, almost all of which he gets wrong. He doesn't perceive the way the right was entrenching its message, even at the time he was writing. It may seem unfair to criticize an author for not being prescient, but the signs were in place already in 2006. He misread them, believing things were going to get better and the radical right become irrelevant. Of course, he also said that the commentators and other political figures he discusses were being pulled leftward by the growing tolerance of the other in our country. That isn't accurate; in fact, it appears that they were pulling the Overton window to the right. A statement that these individuals were being pulled to the left would startle most of Europe, where their right wing politicians look like our moderate Democrats. Overall, useful as a resource, but with odd usage of words. ( ) nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
