Although there is probably some useful information in here, it is not really the simplest book for a beginner to learn about tarot. It can certainly be used as a reference but it is not written well for a quick cheat sheet type reference. There are multiple meanings to each card listed in separate sections of the book ( ) The classic "standard" tarot deck - if you see a gypsy fortune teller in an old American movie reading the cards, this is the deck she's using. The packaging on this edition is a bit questionable - tough to get the cards out and the book in. Also in the book, a few of the illustrations are printing in color - but only the first few cards. And the color has bled thru the page! Weird - haven't ever seen this is a modern paperback. But still three stars for the "King James" version the tarot. This book was written with Arthur Waite's famous tarot deck in mind, illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith (aka "Pixie). I was hoping to find detailed description of the meaning of every detail found in the pictures. It left me rather disappointed. In his book, he explains many things about his cards, but he doesn't go as deep as I would have liked. At times he writes that he is not allowed to reveal deeper meanings he has learned in certain societies. This is rather disappointing. Furthermore, Waite's writing style is not exactly easily understandable and condescending towards fellow writers about tarot. However, there is still some benefit to this book. His comments on other works about tarot will save time to those who are interested in studying cartomancy. It is revealing in how the Rider-Waite (or rather Rider-Waite-Smith) deck is ground-breaking in this art. Waite sets the scene for our modern understanding of tarot and dispels myths about the history of the tarot cards. All criticism aside, it is a solid choice to learn about the basics of cartomancy. Otro de los mejores libros de tarot que existen, publicado por primera vez en 1911, en el que se explica el significado esotérico de las cartas y los elementos de ciertos dibujos y colores en ellas, para ejemplificar lo cual el autor recurre a las bellas ilustraciones a todo color que él mismo encargó a la artista Pamela Colman Smith. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
