He writes fun and easy to read books. Always enjoyable and delivering great plots. This was no different. Coming from a place where he was suffering from COVID-19 effects and not able to complete a different book due to a comedy of errors and frustrations, this book was his answer to surviving the quarantine. Jamie is a great main character. He lifts things. Among those things is the reader's spirits. There are other characters represented including a character who identifies as they/them which was a refreshing thing to see in a modern work. The concept was fresh and something that I hadn't come across before, I recommend this to someone who likes science-fiction with a nice side of humor. Anyone familiar with Scalzi's Old Man's War series will be familiar with his writing style. I say check it out and let me know what you think. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls "an animal rights organization." Tom's team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, massive dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world. They're the universe's largest and most dangerous panda and they're in trouble. It's not just the Kaiju Preservation Society whose found their way to the alternate world. Others have, too. And their carelessness could cause millions back on our Earth to die. I haven't read a lot of books taking on the theme of what people went through in 2020 to show absurdity, and then go off on a different adventure, so I appreciated this a lot.
If you ever wondered how Kaiju work, or where they live, how they might be handled when *not* attacking/tromping through a city, this is the book for you. ( )
