This is a great resource for children to learn more about the LGBT community. Gender identity is such an important topic to discuss, and in this book, for each letter of the alphabet, a gender identity is named and briefly defined. Overall, this book has good intentions, but could have been executed better. The illustrations were, although colorful, a little bland and boring, and the one to two sentences that described each term seemed too little. The language that Dalai used also seemed a little too sophisticated for the "ABC" audience. I understand that that this book is also geared towards adults, as a sort of conversation starter for children, which makes sense, but I feel like most adults don't know what a lot of the listed terms are either. I have often wondered what different gender terms mean. Some are older and you know right away or are easy to assess, others seem to be used interchangeably, but do have solid meanings, and others are brand new to this reader, like Xirl/Xoy, or Kynigender. This book was a wonderful first step in understanding some of these. There is something for everyone to learn. ( )
