This is my first introduction to this universe, and I plan to continue this series and likely the Blood and Ash books. I enjoyed the worldbuilding of this story (though I can't not read "Lasania" as "Lasagna"), and the slow-burn lover/enemy type romance which left a cliffhanger at the end, as well as the mystery element of why Sera has the powers she does and her symptoms. The book contains high-medium spice levels in terms of smut (I think about 4 sex scenes total? And they're fairly explicit) It was an intriguing story and I look forward to the next one. For people saying its like From Blood and Ash: How? I fail to see it lol I mean of course its set in the same world. But the similarities end there imo. Obviously its a prequel but this book was far better then FBAA in my opinion. I blew through it because I couldn't seem to put it down. I feel like people jump on the bandwagon with books like these instead of genuinely reviewing them they just rewrite other peoples reviews. I enjoy Jennifers L A's writing a lot and Nyktos and Sera's relationship was all around better and more defined. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys vampire/gods reads. So for being a prequel series, this was awfully similar to From Blood and Ash and all of its sequels... Luckily there was just enough of a difference to hold my interest. And I'm pretty sure I tilted towards giving this book 4 stars instead of 3 stars purely because of baby drakens - but I held myself back because Sera and Poppy were too darn alike to not be annoyed about it. #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout returns with book one of the compelling Flesh and Fire series--set in the beloved Blood and Ash world. Born shrouded in the veil of the Primals, a Maiden as the Fates promised, Seraphena Mierel's future has never been hers. Chosen before birth to uphold the desperate deal her ancestor struck to save his people, Sera must leave behind her life and offer herself to the Primal of Death as his Consort. However, Sera's real destiny is the most closely guarded secret in all of Lasania--she's not the well protected Maiden but an assassin with one mission--one target. Make the Primal of Death fall in love, become his weakness, and then...end him. If she fails, she dooms her kingdom to a slow demise at the hands of the Rot. Sera has always known what she is. Chosen. Consort. Assassin. Weapon. A specter never fully formed yet drenched in blood. A monster. Until him. Until the Primal of Death's unexpected words and deeds chase away the darkness gathering inside her. And his seductive touch ignites a passion she's never allowed herself to feel and cannot feel for him. But Sera has never had a choice. Either way, her life is forfeit--it always has been, as she has been forever touched by Life and Death. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

Well I loved this book! It was about 100 pages too long which is why it lost a star. I really enjoyed the expansion on the world of From Blood and Ash.
Expect a slow burn! The sexual tension . . . JLA knows how to drive us crazy! ( )
