Fiction. Literature. Romance. In this riveting novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Danielle Steel, a gifted young woman must grapple with the legacy of a troubled childhood in order to pursue her dreams. Antonia Adams is the product of a loveless marriage between an aspiring actress and an aristocrat from a once distinguished family. As a child, she is abandoned in the abyss that yawns between them, blamed by her mother, ignored by her father, and neglected by both. Unprotected and unloved, she learns that the only way to feel safe is to hide from the dangers around her, drawing as little attention as possible to herself, to be "invisible." In her isolation, books are her refuge and movies her escape. A day spent being carried away by an unforgettable film in a dark theater is her greatest thrill. Her love of the movies turns into a dream to become a screenwriter, and a summer job at a Hollywood studio. There, a famous British filmmaker notices her, and suddenly she can remain invisible no longer. He wants to put her in a movie and make her a star. It is a dazzling opportunity but a terrifying one, as it strips her of the camouflage that made her feel safe. She is suddenly thrust into the public eyeâ??and even more so when they fall in love. She will never let go of her true dream of becoming a filmmaker, though, and if she wants to make that leap, she will have to expose herself in ways she never has before. When tragedy strikes, she must decide whether she will remain center stage or become invisible again, where she feels safest. Will she face her demons, or run and hide? In this extraordinary novel, Danielle Steel tells the story of a woman who must determine how high a price she is willing to pay to pursue her passionâ??and whether it is possible to stay true to herself while she… (altro)

I consider myself to be a Danielle Steel fan. With that being said, I find some of her novels to be more interesting than others. "Invisible" was an okay read, but not one of Ms. Steel's better novels. The plot follows the life of Antonia Adams. She is raised in privilege but lacks the love and attention of her parents. After her mother leaves to pursue and acting career in California, Antonia's father becomes even more distant. Antonia finds herself being "invisible" to coup. Eventually, her father finds love again with Lara. They marry and Antonia has hopes of finally having a normal family. She bonds with Lara and their relationship blossoms. Her father, however, still remains aloof. Against her father's wishes, Antonia heads to NYU to pursue a degree and career as a screenwriter. The plot continues following the ups and downs of her life. Some of it is pretty redundant, and the outcome is predictable. ( )

Danielle Steel doesn't disappoint with another breathtaking read in Invisible! The saga is about a child's isolated life with a mother who abandons her when she was little and a father who puts her on the back burner and neglects her except financially due to his hatred of her mother. How she copes with all this isolation and upheaval through her life sure has me enjoying reading Invisible and I'm sure most reader's will enjoy the book too! ( )

Thank you to #NetGalley.

Invisible was one of her better books in my opinion and I loved everything about it. It was sad yet happy and I don't recall her writing a book like this in any that I've read so far and that's a lot. To me she never disappoints especially this one.

The characters were well developed and it was sad the way that Antonia was treated by her father and unfortunately compared her to her mother who left her to become an actress and her father at age 7. It was amazing how she grew up living with a bitter father but then she got a step-mother who loved her and she loved back.

Her life growing up wasn't that great but as she got older and in college and got an internship in at a movie studio. Even though she always wanted to be behind the camera as a director/producer and writing movies, she became a reluctant actress. She married a director who was much older but they loved each other. Then life changed so fast and then sadness came to her unfortunately but then at the end all was well again with her life and her two kids who she had at age 24 & 25. ( )

I found this book to be very sad. Thank goodness for the two men who loved her. I found her parents to be poor excuses for human beings. ( )

Invisible by Danielle Steel is a 2022 Delacorte Press publication.

Antonia Adams learned how to be invisible at an early age. Her parents made it abundantly clear she had no place in their lives, so when she was finally old enough to move out and go to college, she eagerly pursued her dream of becoming a screenwriter. She has setbacks and terrifying encounters- but then doors begin to open- not necessarily in the field she prefers, but as an actress. Things are looking up for her and she’s finally getting the life she deserves. But a shocking turn of events could send Antonia back into invisibility mode for good…

This was a cathartic read for me. Danielle Steel is familiar, though I’ve seldom read her books in the last couple of decades, I know her style and I’ve enjoyed reconnecting with her work in the last couple of years. Coming off a bad reading experience, this book was just what the doctor ordered.

It’s a story of a young woman who endured mental and emotional abuse from her embittered father, but eventually finds a way out of her shell only to endure a major setback that sends her scurrying back into her old habits.

I was hoping Antonia would eventually feel confident enough to get back to living her life to the fullest and allow herself to take another chance on love.

This is a very quick read and pretty much what one might expect from Danielle Steel. Some characterizations were a wee bit over the top and more than a little irrational, but other than that I liked the story, and how everything eventually turns out. It’s a bittersweet tale, but has a lovely, triumphant conclusion.

3.5 rounded up ( )
